Bayrak received the University of Texas System Board of Regents' outstanding teaching award in 2012 and was inducted into the university's Academy of Distinguished Teachers in 2014. Frederick Gottemoeller is an engineer and architect, who specializes in the aesthetic aspects of bridges and highways. He is the author of Bridgescape, a reference book on aesthetics and was deputy administrator of the Maryland State Highway Administration. Reggie Holt is a senior structural engineer at the Federal Highway Administra - tion (FHWA) and manages the Concrete Bridge Program at the FHWA headquarters in Washington, D.C. Dr. Brian Kozy is the leader of the Structures Engineering Team for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) at the FHWA headquarters in Washington, D.C. He is responsible for national policy and guidance on bridge design and analysis. Dr. Dennis R. Mertz is professor of civil engineering at the University of Delaware. Formerly with Modjeski and Masters Inc. when the LRFD Specifications were first written, he has continued to be actively involved in their development. MANAGING TECHNICAL EDITOR Dr. Reid Castrodale is a structural engineering consultant with over 30 years of experience in prestressed concrete bridge design, research, and technical support.
